Where to get the Anime fansubs (ASS) subtitle file

Your own translation project files, or ASS tracks extracted from MKV files you own with MKVToolNix (mkvextract). Sign lines and OP/ED karaoke are separate events — leave them or translate the dialogue style only.

How to use the translated file

Open the translated .ass in Aegisub for QC, then mux it back with MKVToolNix or load it as an external subtitle in mpv/VLC.

Tip

Add a glossary with character names and honorifics (-san, -senpai) so they are handled consistently across an entire season. The Japanese → English pair keeps {\i1} and {\an8} tags exactly as they were.

Questions

Are override tags kept?
Yes — {\an8}, {\pos}, {\i1} and any {…} block are preserved; only text between them is translated.
What about karaoke lines?
Karaoke {\k} tags are preserved; the syllable text is translated, which usually is not what you want — translate dialogue events only.
Can I get SRT instead?
Translate the ASS, then convert to SRT with the free converter; italics survive, positioning is dropped.
