Where to get the Instagram Reels subtitle file

Export the SRT from the editor you captioned with (CapCut, Premiere, InShot, Descript). If the original captions were made in the Instagram app, re-caption in CapCut to get a file.

How to use the translated file

Import the translated SRT into your editor, position captions in the safe zone (avoid the bottom 20% where the caption text sits), export, and post. Keep the original audio; only the burned text changes.

Tip

Reels are watched muted more often than not, so translated captions carry the whole message. Use the casual register and short lines; check that no line covers the caption overlay area.

Questions

Can I upload an SRT to Instagram?
No. Burn subtitles in with your editor after translating.
Which language first?
Check Insights → Audience → top countries. Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil) are the usual first picks for English accounts; English for Korean accounts.
What about the caption text?
Translate the subtitle file, then paste the first lines into the post caption for that language too.
