Where to get the Netflix subtitle file

Legitimate sources: subtitle files you or your team produced, files exported from your editing suite, or caption files supplied with licensed content. Browser extensions that rip Netflix subtitles violate Netflix's terms — use them only for content you are entitled to.

How to use the translated file

Play the video in VLC, mpv, Plex or Infuse and load the translated .srt as an external subtitle, or open the file in Language Reactor-style study tools for side-by-side viewing.

Tip

Netflix-style files use a 42-character line limit and a 2-line maximum. SubFlip keeps both. For study use, choose the bilingual output to get the original and translation in one file.

Questions

Can I add a translated subtitle inside the Netflix app?
No. The app only plays tracks Netflix provides. Use an external player for your own copies.
Is TTML/DFXP supported?
Convert TTML to SRT or VTT with any subtitle converter first; the timing maps one to one.
Is this legal?
Translating files you have the rights to use is fine. Downloading Netflix streams or subtitles is against Netflix's terms.
